Find I am getting one every three-four weeks. Any relationship with hypothyroidism or with B12 deficiency?

Hi Never heard of one. If really bad bleeds then you need to see an ENT consultant, most likely cause is Polyps. High BP an cause it too but would need to be very high and other symptoms by then

Best wishes,

For what it's worth-I experienced a nose bleed when my levo was increased from 50 to 75 mcg. Doc told me to alternate meds till this stopped-it did. He also said he'd never heard of anyone having nose bleeds related to hypothyroidism-but it was totally connected with my dose being too high for me. Also felt hyper-wired etc.

All ok now and fairly steady on 50mcg per day.

You need to check with a med pro -als make sure your b12 is ok-mine was but doc didn;t tell me so I got a supplement which gave me bad headache as already had correct levels-but that was not communicated to me when blood tests came back. Best wishes.

Hi, I recently (well, 1.5 months ago) had my levo upped to 50ug. My B12 is very low and the endo has said probably need injections. Just had bloods for intrinsic factor and seeing GP next week. It's only one nostril (strangely enough) and it does only seem to occur every 3-4 weeks. Will ask GP about it when I see her.

I seeemd to develop nosebleeds when i became hypothyroid. I think it may initially have been caused by factors as simple as the onset of dryness/less than perfect mucus protection, and increased allergic sensitivity to stuff floating in the air.

I went on to develop a chronic sinus infection (after a couple of years of strong antibiotics which left me with a seriously upset gut) which required surgery to drain, and my nose while not so bad has never been the same since.

Despite not being seriously hypo any more I still get the odd full on bleed. Also daily traces of blood. (the guy couldn't resist 'improving' the position of my septum which had worked perfectly well for 30 years...)

You say every 3-4 weeks; is it cyclical? My nose bleeds, not full on, but a little for a couple days before my period in the last year. Think it's hormonal as I remember now that I used to get it as a teenager but never linked the two then. I'm now at the other end of the span approaching menopause. It's possibly a form of endometriosis.

I was having severe nosebleeds every day. Would take a couple hours of applying pressure until bleeding would stop. I was then diagnosed as severly hypothyroid, and was told that nosebleed could be a symptom because low thyroid levels could impeded blood clotting factors. Explained the very heavy periods as well.
